De Santis, Antoinette
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Antoinette De Santis, 75, of Morris Plains passed away in her home on Thursday, April 30, 2009, surrounded by her family. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend visitation at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (tuttlefh.com) on Saturday, May 2, 2009, 2 - 5 p.m. and Sunday, May 3, 2009, 1 - 5 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Christopher's Church, 1050 Littleton Road, Parsippany, on Monday, May 3, 2009 at 10 a.m.. Entombment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover.
Antoinette was born in Cansano, Italy, in 1933. She was the daughter of the late Emilio and Giovanna Di Gregorio and the eldest of two children. The family later emigrated to the United States and she eventually returned to Italy to marry her childhood friend, Domenico De Santis, in Cansano in 1956. They embarked upon a romance that spanned over fifty years.
Antoinette was a valued employee of Chemical Bank, NY for twenty-five years and also worked as a medical assistant. Her greatest passions were cooking, gardening and crafting. She always managed to make the end-product of a recipe taste more delicious than anyone else could. Whenever a plant or flower was dwindling, she would merely use one of her "secret remedies", and voila', it would perk up. Her crafty abilities were unique as well, and she could always invent a way to make the ordinary take on a special appearance. Antoinette's nurturing soul was her greatest attribute. She adored both her family and friends and was always willing to forego something for herself so she could give to others. The most beloved aspect of her life, however, was her relationship with her grandson, Giuseppe. Her greatest desire was that in the few years they shared together he be blessed with the values, courage and zest for life she tried to instill in him. Antoinette was truly a gem of a woman. We are heartbroken that she is no longer with us, but in her honor we will embrace our lives and go on. She is survived by: her husband, Domenico; her daughter Fiorita and her husband Joseph; her grandson, Giuseppe; her brother, Frank; her nieces, Jayne, Debbie, and Lori; her nephew, Emilio, and many great-nieces and nephews.
Donations in her memory may be made to The Lustgarten Foundation at curepc.org.
