Obituary of John J. Pryor

John J. (Jack) Pryor, age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 27th, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. Jack Pryor lived for many years in Mine Hill before retiring to Florida in 1995. He returned to Mine Hill when his beloved and devoted wife of 17 years, Jeanette (Sturgis) Pryor passed away in 2008. John proudly served his country in the United States Marines. He was honorably discharged in 1954. He was a Purple Heart Recipient three times for combat wounds he received in the Korean War. Jack worked for Suffern Tri County, Schaefer Beer Distributors as a truck driver for 30 years before retiring in 1985. Jack was an avid golfer and enjoyed going to the track and betting on “the ponies.” He is survived by his loving and supportive daughters Karen Costello and her husband, Charles of Mine Hill and Tina Rotsides and her husband, Peter of Succasunna and his cherished stepdaughter Jill Aspy and her partner, Ted Stephens; as well as his five treasured grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Thomas, and Victoria Costello; and Melissa and Demetri Rotsides. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass on Thursday September 1st, 2011 at 10am at St. Therese R.C. Church, 151 Main St. Succasunna, NJ 07876. Interment to follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, 168 N. Sussex St. Dover, NJ 07801. Arrangements are under the direction of Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10, Randolph Township, NJ 07869 (973) 366-7400.
