Obituary of Loretta Smith

Loretta (neePanasik) Smith, 89 Loretta Smith, 89, of Randolph passed away peacefully at home on August 21st, 2011, three days past her 89th birthday. Born in Whippany she moved to Randolph in 1954. She is the daughter of Anna and Walter Panasik and sister to Michael, Wallace, Nettie, Olga, Mary, and Vera. She is the loving mother of Carol, Carl, Patricia, Jacqueline, and Mark. She was predeceased by her husband Carl M. Smith Sr. and son Carl M. Smith Jr.. She is survived by her daughters Carol Carey of Wharton, NJ, Patricia Beebe of Afton, NY, Jacqueline McConnell of Port Murray, NJ and son Mark Smith of Succasunna, NJ as well as her loving sister Vera Depue of Womelsdorf, PA. She also has seven grandchildren Thomas and Douglas Carey, Jerry Morgan, Edward Lee and Stacey Grabowski and Daniel and Jillian Smith, as well as three great-grandchildren. Loretta graduated from Morristown High School and with the onset of WWII she built radios used in military aircraft. Later years she owned Accurate Mailings in Randolph with son Mark as well as a gift store in Denville called Candlewicke. The family would like to extend their deepest thanks to the wonderful care given Loretta by the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, it was her wish to stay in her home and with their help and care that was made possible. Thank you also to Dr. Milton Mintz for making house calls and her care giver Valentina Bannikova. Loretta was a longtime member of the Millbrook United Methodist Church in Randolph. Visitation Thursday, August 25th, 2011, 7 - 9 PM (only) at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Services will be Friday, August 26th, 2011, 10:00 AM also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Loretta's name to the Visiting Nurse Association Hospice, 175 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07960.
