Amanda was also a doting aunt to her nieces, Lily, Stella, and Ruby Jones, of VA. Amanda was born in 1979 at Mather Air Force Base in Rancho Cordova, Ca. Her father?s Air Force career would take Amanda from one coast of this country to the other, and it instilled in her a lifelong love of travel and adventure. Settling in Virginia at age 11, Amanda attended Glenvar High School where she became an accomplished student and athlete. From 1998 to 2006, Amanda studied at Virginia Tech, New River Community College, and Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ to obtain her BS in Business Administration. Afterwards, Amanda continued her dream by obtaining her teaching certificate and becoming an accounting teacher in the business department at Roxbury High School. She was a passionate and dedicated teacher and coach providing unparalleled leadership and inspiration to the students she came in contact with. Amanda was a vibrant young woman who was loved by all who knew her. Her warm smile and kind heart will be greatly missed but never forgotten. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of the oncology unit at Morristown Memorial Hospital and the Carol G. Simon Cancer Center for their steadfast care and compassion. A memorial service will be held this Wednesday, August 24th at Horseshoe Lake in Succasunna between 6:30 and 9:00pm. In lieu of flowers, Amanda requested that donations be made to a future scholarship fund through the high school.
