John Lopanik, 85, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, died July 16, 2011, of a heart-related condition in his home. He was born December 27, 1925, in Newark, New Jersey, to Stephen and Anna Lopanik. He was the eldest of five children. In 1996, he left his residence in Brookside, New Jersey, to retire to North Carolina. A WWII veteran, John served in Japan as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army. He spent his entire career as a metal machinist. He was an active member of the Fletcher Seventh-day Adventist Church. He enjoyed restoring used cars and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Survivors include his beloved wife of 66 years – Mabel Lopanik. One daughter – Robyn Iuliano and husband Thomas of Greeneville, Tennessee, and four sons – Robert Lopanik and wife Linda of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Bruce Lopanik and wife Darlene of Mendham, New Jersey, Jon Scott Lopanik of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Mark Lopanik of Sparta, New Jersey. Two siblings – Dave Lopanik of Jacksonville, Florida, and Doris Nash and husband Dick of Long Beach Island, New Jersey. Six grandchildren – Nichole Talafert and husband Martial, Lindsey Literati and husband Brad, Christopher Lopanik, Andrew Lopanik, Bethany Iuliano, Timothy Iuliano, and Donnie Ingram. Four great grandchildren – Chase and Zachary Literati, and Mary and Michael Ingram. Visitation at Tuttle Funeral Home, in Randolph, New Jersey, will be at 10:00am – 11:30am on Thursday, July 21, 2011, and graveside service will immediately follow at Restland Cemetery, in East Hanover New Jersey.
