Obituary of Raymond Thomas Walsh

Raymond Thomas Walsh passed away Sunday May 1, 2011 at Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Clares Hospital, Dover. He was 82 years old, born in Scranton, PA. Raymond was the son of James and Margaret (Kilawee) Walsh and lived in Ironia for 57 years. He was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle Parish, Randolph. Raymond was a graduate of Newark College of Engineering, now known as NJIT (New Jersey Institute of Technology), and a US Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. He was employed as a Design Engineer for both Cameron Machine of Dover and Somerset Technology of Somerset for 38 years; Raymond retired in 1993. Ray also served proudly as a volunteer fireman for the Company 4 Firehouse in Ironia for 53 years. He was one of the members who contributed to the establishment of that Company. He served as Chief from 1976 to 1978 as well as a Past President of the Ironia Firemen’s Association. Raymond continued to serve as a trustee and a life-long active member until his passing.
Ray was a loving husband, a cherished father, and a true friend to all who knew him. He will always be loved and missed by all who knew him.
Predeceased by his son Thomas in 2009, his parents, four brothers (James, Thomas, Michael, and Jack), and one sister (Marie Garvey). Raymond is survived by; his wife of 59 years Elizabeth (Reilly), three daughters Terry and Joe Rampone of Randolph, M. Colleen and Gary Leonhardt of Randolph, and Mary and Scott Rosenbaum of Long Valley. Ray is also survived by his twelve grandchildren Joey, Brian, Megan, Danny, Shannon, Kevin, Mark, Michael, Emily, Patrick, Jake, and Nick. Also one sister Anne Chorba of Acre Lake, PA.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Matthew the Apostle Parish at 10 am on Monday May 9, 2011, 335 Dover Chester Road, Randolph (973-584-1101). Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester. Friends and Family may visit Sunday May 8, 2011 from 3:00PM – 7:00PM at the Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (Tuttlefh.com) . In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Raymond’s memory to Compassionate Care Hospice at Saint Clares Hospital, 400 Blackwell Street, Dover, NJ 07801.
