William Russell Roberts, 85, died on Friday, April 29, 2011 in the New Jersey Firemen's Home in Boonton, N.J. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 2, 2011, from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with a service at 8:30 p.m. at the Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph Township, N.J. 07869. (tuttlefh.com). Born in Carbondale, Pa., Mr. Roberts was a resident of Wildwood, Fla., for 30 years. He was a firefighter with the East Orange Fire Department for 30 years before retiring in 1977 as captain. He served in the Navy during Worle War II and was an avid golfer. Surviving are three children, Suzanne Schieman, William and John; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn, and a brother, Robert; he was predeceased by his wife, Jean. In lieu of flowers, donations to the N.J. Firemen's Home, 565 Lathrop Ave., Boonton, N.J. 07005 would be appreciated.
