Obituary of Carl R. Stromberg

Carl R. Stromberg, 80, of Boonton, NJ, passed away Monday, September 6th, 2010 at the New Jersey Firemen's Home, Boonton following a short illness. He lived in Rockaway Boro until 1951 when he moved to Randolph. He moved from Randolph to Carneys Point Township in 1987 and from there to the N.J. Firemen's Home, Boonton in August 2008.
He served in the U.S. Army 1949 to 1953.
He worked as a Tool & Die Maker at Picatinny Arsenal, Procurement Office, Rockaway Township, NJ, 1951 to 1985.
Life member of the Randolph Township Fire Department, Chief of Department - 1966; Chief Chemical Engine Co. No. 2, Millbrook - 1966. Life member N.J. State Firemen's Association. Member Penns Grove-Excelsior Lodge No. 54 F. & A.M. and Jephthah Lodge No. 233 F. & A.M.
Predeceased by his wife Gloria in June 2008 and daughter Carol Hansson in September 2008.
Survived by his son Raymond and wife Patricia of Dover; three grandchildren Kirsten Cohick, Lewisberry, PA, Kimberly Stromberg, Dover, NJ and Erica Hansson, Tennessee. Also survived by two great-grandchildren Sophia and Brody.
Visitation Thursday, September 9th, 2010, 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph, NJ (www.tuttlefh.com). Firemen's Service Thursday, September 9th, 2010 at 8:00PM.
Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home, 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 10th, 2010.
Interment will follow at Millbrook Cemetery, Randolph Township, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in his memory to Randolph Chemical Engine Co. #2, 340 Route 10, Randolph, NJ 07869.
