Henry B. “Hank” Gabel, 74, of Randolph, passed away on July 7, 2010 at Valley Hospital, Ridgewood. Born and raised in Newark, he lived in Randolph since 1967, prior to that he lived in White Meadow Lake. He graduated from St. Charles Borromeo High School in 1954 and was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Golden Knights Drum Corps. He was a Sheet Metal Journeyman by trade, and a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Association, Local 10 and 25, since 1958. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the aircraft carrier Saratoga CVA 60 and is a plankowner. Henry was a member of the Millbrook Fire Company in Randolph for 43 years, having served as Chief, President and Trustee. He was also a founding member of the White Meadow Lake Fire Company, Rockaway. He was a parishioner of both Resurrection Parish in Randolph and Holy Spirit Parish in Pequannock, and was an active member of the Pequannock chapter of UNICO National. He is survived by his three children, Michele Benes of Easton, PA and her husband George, Timothy of Washington, D.C., and Kevin of Boston, MA and his wife Lauren; and his grandson Dustin Benes. Also survived by his brother, Edward, of Rockaway, and his devoted companion and traveling partner Anna Dianuzzo of Pequannock, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wife Eileen in 2000; his parents Frank and Emelia, his brother Joseph and his sister Theresa. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 from 3-5 and 7-9 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com.) A Funeral Mass will be held at Resurrection Parish in Randolph at 10Am on Tuesday, July 13, 2010. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Randolph Chemical Engine Company #2, 340 Route 10, Randolph, NJ 07869.
