Obituary of James H. Miller

James H. Miller, 72, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2016. Jim was born and raised in Buffalo, NY, and resided in Randolph, NJ for 41 years. He graduated from Cornell University with a degree in electrical engineering and went on to receive a Ph.D. from Princeton University. He worked in systems engineering at Bell Labs in Whippany, NJ, for 29 years. After retiring he worked part time for Atlas Model Railroad Company in Hillside, NJ, combining his technical expertise with his lifelong love of model railroading. He was an active member of the Independent Hi-Railers, Eastern Division, Model Railroad Club, he enjoyed constructing and exhibiting complex layouts with the members of his club. He was also a member of the Morris Plains Model Railroad Club. Jim was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Morris Plains. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Janice (nee Ensinger), his son, Eric (Melissa) and his grandson, Noah. Visitation Wednesday, April 27, 2016, 3:00 - 5:00 PM and 7:00 - 9:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Service Thursday, April 28, 2016, 11:00 AM, also at the funeral home. Interment will be Saturday, April 30, 2016, 10:30 AM at Elmlawn Cemetery, Kenmore, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, PO Box 4527, New York, NY 10163 or a charity of your choice.
