Obituary of Carroll Lyons

Carroll Lyons, 81, of Mine Hill, passed away on Wednesday, June 10th, 2015, at St. Clare’s Hospital, Dover. He was born in Johnson City, TN, and moved to NJ in 1945. He joined the Army in 1950 and served with the 11th Air Borne Division, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant. His time spent in the Army as a Paratrooper was a source of personal pride all of his life. He was a carpenter starting with Joe Phil, then Hercules Powder Co., and joined the Carpenters Union 620. Carroll was best known to his friends as (Rebel). He was a life member of The American Legion Post #391, where he served as a commander from 1995 to 1997. He was also a life member of the Mine Hill Fire Department, serving many years as a trustee. He was active in building the Mine Hill Boy Scouts Building. He was also a member of the Mine Hill Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder. Carroll was the beloved husband of Lillian (nee Greer). Loving father of daughter Debbie Lyons-Fogel of PA and son David and his wife Lisa of Budd Lake. He is also survived by his four grandchildren Katie, David, Michael and Christopher, his sister Bess Clark of Mine Hill and brother Joe Lyons of Shelby, NC., and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, June 12, 2015, 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph ( www.tuttlefh.com ). Funeral Services will be on Saturday, June 13th, 2015, 10:00 AM, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Randolph. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in his memory to the Mine Hill Presbyterian Church, 213 Route 46 West, Mine Hill, NJ 07803.
