William R. Gratacos Sr., 85, of Hackettstown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Tuesday, March 17th, 2015 at Hackettstown Regional Hospital, Hackettstown. William was born in Elizabeth and formerly resided in Dover. He served in the U.S. Marines during WWII. He had worked as a Journeyman Carpenter at Local Union #620, Madison. He was very active at Sacred Heart Church, Dover and Church of the Assumption, Hackettstown. William was a former Mayor of Victory Gardens. Survived by his wife Kathleen, six children William Jr. and his wife Carol, Richard and his wife Donna, Brian and his wife Valerie, Patti Wilder and her husband Blaze, Suzanne Mahler and her husband Robert and Julianna Fernandez and her husband George. Also survived by thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and brothers and sisters. Predeceased by his first wife Mary Ann Gratacos, of 35 years, in 1989. Visitation Friday, March 20, 2015, 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph ( www.tuttlefh.com ). Funeral Mass Saturday, March 21, 2015, 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, Dover. Interment will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested in his memory to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Attention: Colleen Hanley, 63 33rd Avenue, 28th Floor, NY, NY 10017.
