Obituary of Darlene Marie Harris

Please share a memory of Darlene to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Darlene “Ruffles” Marie Harris, 58, of Morristown, NJ, passed away on April 19, 2024, at Morristown Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Fred M. and Mabel L. Harris welcomed their youngest of seven, Darlene Marie Harris, on August 1, 1965, at Morristown Memorial Hospital. Ruffles, as her father affectionately nicknamed her, attended Morristown High School and later earned her Cosmetology Certification from Morris County Votech and Dudley Cosmetology University in Greensboro, NC. While working in the field she enjoyed immensely, she had to contend with devastating illnesses over the years. However, all those who knew her understood that she was too busy living, loving life, and most importantly being a dedicated member of the Morristown (English) Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, to be defined by it. Ruffles loved and was loved by her family, friends (who were like family to her), and her God, Jehovah, whom she loved most of all (Matthew 22:37-39). It is because of Jehovah and the Ransom of his Son Jesus Christ that we have the hope of being with her again (Matthew 20:28; John 5:28 & 29 and Revelation 21:3 & 4).

Darlene is survived by her sisters Marlene D., Darnee D. and Wanda D. Harris of Morristown, Alfreda S. Brown (nee Harris) of Dover and Fred A. Harris of Robinsville, nieces Tawanne S. Harris of Morristown, Andra S. and Charlene R. Brown of Lake Hiawatha, Kamala D. Cook (Michael), and grand-niece Mikayla R. of Gurnee, IL, and nephews Welton J. Hill Jr, and Warren C. Henderson of Morristown, along with a host of cherished extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her grandparents "Gran-Pop" Alexander Coarse & "Gran-Ma" Lucy Mary Coarse (nee Terry), parents Fred M. Harris and Mabel L. Harris-Ewing (nee Coarse), sister Kamala A. Harris, brothers-in-law Charles W. Brown Jr. and Welton Hill Sr. and nephew Charles W. Brown III.
