To Neil's family - I feel awful having not learned of his passing until I went for a haircut today - 47 years of them and each time was a joy. As others have said, great conversation -- about cars, Italy, healthy eating, and life. And nowhere else did I learn so much about "the old days" - of Dover, of Italy, of the US. His was a soothing presence and time spent with him was a comfort.
I regret not knowing of the service held for him, but want you to know of my sincere affection for such a good man.
I will miss him greatly. - Tim Van Hise. Brookside.

Q: How did you meet Aniello?
A: You have been a good friend for nearly 50 years and I thank you for that. I walked into your barbershop by mistake one day and we’ve been friends since. I was supposed to go to Nick and Genes barbershop down the street and was told to be sure I got the guy with hair. You were the only one in your shop but you had lots of hair, so I thought I was safe. The rest is history. I remember your son on Saturdays watching cartoons and sweeping the hair from the floor. Our paths crossing and your friendship was destined. You will be missed terribly and your words of wisdom will live with me the rest of my days. Rest in peace my friend!!!

To Neil's dear wife and family, on this first Christmas Eve with Neil in Heaven, May the Lord give you peace only as He can at this most difficult time. All week memories of 25 years of knowing Neil as my friend and barber have constantly been with me and selfishly I was hoping for just one more chance to sit in his chair and to listen to his words of wisdom and encouragement. My friend, Janet and I will miss you very much.......until we meet again. Chet Lloyd

i see some old friends and acquaintances here posting about neil. and i see some i don’t know but i know i have made new friends. that would be the way neil would have wanted it. all of you have said it so well. after my childhood barber michael defelice, also from netcong, but with a longtime shop in rockaway died, i searched and searched for a new barber. although follically challenged, i just needed to find a traditional old school italian barber. maybe some will understand. for some of us old guys a barber is almost like a priest. and i’m not catholic. they say the student finds the teacher and somehow i found neil. what a glorious moment. thank you neil. when i meet you in heaven i’m sure you’re first words to me will be i’ll take some off the top next time. and then we’ll talk about cars, especially our honda pilots, the garden, our families, and life. eternal love to you my friend.

Nearly 40 years as my barber. More than that, a dear friend. Always looked forward to meeting Neil. Always had plenty of stories and advise on life. Always left his shop with a smile. plenty of laughs.
Just got my haircut last week. No one knew Dover like Neil. And the antiquated cash register and all the junk that he collected over the years. He will be missed. Dover will never be the same without Neil. A true blessing to have met him.

So sorry to hear of Neil passing, He was a great friend to my father (Joe Carlson) and I, After my fathers passing in 2010, Neil would talk about my dad while he was cutting my hair and made me feel better reminding me of things about the old days with him.
We would have get discussions about life and all it brought. I will miss him deeply. I know they are now enjoying each others company in heaven, laughing, working on cars , cutting hair and solving the worlds problems.
Sincerely my condolences,
Erik, Eileen & Anna Carlson.

Q: What 3 words best describe Aniello and why?
A: Friendship, loyalty and dedication!!!
What an incredible man to know for over 50 years. His kindness and his knowledge of the simple and yet the most complicated things of life.
I shall miss the monthly talks as I got my haircut from the finest barber in town.
May he now rest in the peace of a loving God.
Arrevertichi mi amigo.

Neil was my favorite barber in Dover. I visited his little shop near the post office many times and always had good conversations.
During my tour operator years, Neil and his brother Emilio traveled with us on a charter flight to Italy, where they visited family.
RIP, Neil.

Though it was designed as a funeral home, it still provides the warm comforting feeling of a home, but with more space and an open feeling.
