"The Dash" by Linda Ellis
I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on his tombstone from beginning to the end
He noted that first came his date of his birth and spoke the following date with tears, but he said what mattered most of all was the dash between those years
For that dash represents all the time that he spent alive on earth and now only those that loved him know what that little line is worth
For it matters not how much we own the cars, the house, the cash, what matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash
So, think about this long and hard. Are there things you'd like to change? For you never know how much time is left, that can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough to consider what's true and real and always try to understand the way other people feel and be less quick to anger, and show appreciation more and love the people in our lives like we've never loved before
If we treat each other with respect, and more often wear a smile remembering that this special dash might only last a little while
So, when your eulogy is being read with your life's actions to rehash would you be proud of the things they say about how you spent your dash?

I am utterly heartbroken to hear of Tom's passing. I first got to know Tom at Plaza Lanes in the Police and Fire Bowling League. As an opponent his team (the Lazy One that never even named themselves) beat our Madison Fire Department team for the title on two occasions. In 2016, I became teammates with him on the reformed Madison Fire Department team. I will miss his jokes, his " Stupid, stupid, stupid" refrain, him kissing his ball before each throw, and his many sayings, especially "you sliced the bacon really thin there." My condolences to his family and friends, he was an absolutely wonderful man and friend. I know the next time I hear thunder, it will be Tommy bowling that 300 game in Heaven. God rest your soul, my friend.

I was shocked and saddened at hearing of your loss. Tom was a great guy and a great bowler. I bowled with him on the Wednesday Trios league at Hanover last year. We had a lot of fun competing together and I will always remember him.
My sincerest condolences,
Harry Franz

who we are:
Tuttle Funeral home was designed as a funeral home by funeral home architects and designers. Unllike many funeral homes that were originally old homes and then were converted into funeral homes.
Though it was designed as a funeral home, it still provides the warm comforting feeling of a home, but with more space and an open feeling.
