Obituary of Thomas H. Steiner, Sr.

Thomas H. Steiner Sr., 74, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021, after a brief illness.  Born in Montclair to the late C. Laurell Steiner and Ruth (Korte).  Tom was a 1965 graduate in the first class to complete 4 years in the new West Essex Regional High School. 

Tom worked for Fritz & Sons HVAC for over 30 years then finished his career at Edison Heating & Cooling as the Assistant Service Manager until retirement.  He was a proud member of union local 475 for over 50 years.  Tom was a member and Vice President of the Jaycees in Pequannock, Wayne, and Jefferson Township.  He always maintained that being the VP was all the level of responsibility and “headaches” he wanted.  He was pack master in Jefferson for 6 years, a member of Milton United Methodist Church for 40 years, and the Vice President of the trustees.

He was predeceased by Blanche (Morris), his wife of 23 years.  After 10 years alone he met, in his words, “the love of his life” on Date.com.  Tom is survived by his wife of 17 years, Frances (Loggia) and the children of the blended family he created with the love and support of the two women who loved him.  His sons Thomas Jr. (Josefina), Jeffrey L. (Lisa), David Cotignola Jr. (Mae) and daughter Karen Lessack (Ryan) His treasured grandchildren; Isaac and Daniel Cotignola, Jeffrey Steiner, Vincent Lessack, and the most precious joy of all, his granddaughter Vivian Lessack.  He is also survived by his sister Barbara Thomas (Paul), 2 nieces Kimberly Crossan (Byran), April Boyle (Michael). Two great nephews, Nathan Crossan and Tyler Abrego, and two great nieces Sophia and Avery Crossan. 

Tom was a most beautiful soul with a ready smile, contagious laugh, a friendly word, and a helping hand for everyone he met.  This is his legacy to everyone he leaves behind.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 7:00 to 9:00pm at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 10:00am at the Milton United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, the interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Caldwell.
