In high school, he was a football player and varsity wrestler and even with his busy professional career, Doc remained committed to youth sports in Rockaway Township. He was a long-time coach for Rockaway Rockets football, Little League Baseball, Basketball and Lacrosse for Rockaway teams. Doc also performed emergency medical assistance at Morris Knolls High School football games.  He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, landscaping, paintball, riding ATVs, fishing or simply basking in the sunshine.

He is survived by his three sons, Ryan Anthony and his wife Deepti Nahar, Christopher Michael and Steven Mark; his grandson, Aryan Anthony Nahar Quadrel; his four sisters, Linda McLoughlin and her husband Robert, Lisa Quadrel, Debbie Quadrel, Lori Smith and her husband Chad, as well as many nieces and nephews.
