Obituary of Elva H. Valentine

Elva Harrison Valentine passed away on January 11th, 2012 at the Regency Grande Nursing Center. Born in the Millbrook section of Randolph Township on July 21, 1918, she was a life long resident of Dover graduating from Dover High School, class of 1936.
After raising her family she worked at Friedland's Department Store in Dover. One of her great joys was serving her church and she was a proud member of First Memorial Presbyterian Church of Dover for over 75 years. She served as an ordained Elder, Deacon, as a teacher in the Sunday School, Weekday Church School, and Vacation Church School. She loved taking care of the babies and young children in the Nursery every Sunday. Her last position at the church was as the evening churchkeeper welcoming everyone who entered the building with a smile.
She was a volunteer at the Faith Kitchen at the Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday for over 24 years. She was a registered Girl Scout Leader for 40 years.
She was predeceased by her husband Anthony in 1975, her parents, Walter Harrison and Olive Harrison Smith, brothers Stanley, Archie, and Willard Harrison, sister Anna Gulick, son-in-law Richard Felch and great grandson Jordan Felch.
She is survived by her children, son Wayne and his wife Sylvia of Mine Hill, daughters Jeanette Felch of Hopatcong, and Alyce Valentine of Flemington. Also her loving grandchildren, Richard, Jonathan, and Brian Felch, Toni Ann Darwin, Randall and Calvin Valentine, Michael Delaney, Patrick, Ryan, and Robert Magee, twenty three great grandchildren one great great granddaughter, her sister Stella Mauro of Gillette, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation Sunday, January 15th, 2012, 2 - 6 PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Memorial Service Monday, January 16th, 2012, 11:30 AM at the First Memorial Presbyterian Church, 51 West Blackwell Street, Dover (973-366-0216). Interment private.
