Obituary of Gertrude M. Kertscher

Memorial Service Sunday, December 13th at 4:00 PM at the Funeral Home Mrs. Gertrude M. Kertscher, 84, of Lake Hopatcong, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 11, 2009 at Newton Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Kertscher was born in Weisbaden, Germany. She was a German Teacher at Dover High School for 15 years retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Ledgewood. She especially enjoyed ballroom dancing. She travelled to and competed in many ballroom dancing competitions. She was also a private German tutor working with families and children. She was the advisor for the German Club at Dover High School, and started the Student Exchange Program at Dover High School in 1977 through G.A.P.P. German-American Partnership Program. She was also active in A.C.I.M "A Course In Miracles." She enjoyed traveling and hosting friends and relatives at her home. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Simmons and her husband Aaron of Stockholm; her step-son Harry Kertscher and his wife Emily of Jamesburg; Two grandchildren, Erika and Francis. She is predeceased by her husband, Horst, in 1995, and her son. Lt. Frank Kerscher U.S.N., in 1982. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 13, 2009 from 2-4 PM with the Memorial Service at 4:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com).
