David E. Whitmore, 87, of Lakewood, passed away suddenly, on Friday, April 14, 2017 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He was Born in Wharton and resided in Mine Hill, Lake Hopatcong and Succasunna before residing in Lakewood for the last 20 years. David was the Owner and Operator of North Jersey Acoustics, Wharton, and retired from there in 1990 after 30 years. David served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 91 of Wharton, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Succasunna, where he helped to build the expansion to the church. He was also a member of the Wharton Fire Department until 1960. He was an avid golfer and member of the Four Seasons Golf Club in Lakewood for 20 years. He is survived by Gail, his wife of 57 years; daughter Donna Zimmer and her husband Peter J. of Succasunna; two sons David A. and his partner Rex Carver of Mount Juliet, TN and Glenn A. of Succasunna and three grandsons Peter D. Zimmer and his wife Elizabeth, Daniel and Joshua Zimmer. Visitation Tuesday, April 18, 2017 from 3:00-7:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272, State Route 10 west, Randolph (tuttlefh.com). Funeral Service Wednesday April 19, 2017 at 10:00AM also at the funeral home. Entombment to follow at Locust Hill Mausoleum, Dover. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
