Obituary of Barbara M Gillen

Barbara M. Gillen, 80, of Wharton, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Dover. She was born in the Bronx, lived in Queens Village and West Virginia and has been a resident of Wharton since 1973.  Barbara was a Registered Nurse at Dover General Hospital, Dover where she retired in 1997 after 30 years.

She was the first coach for Girl’s Youth Soccer in Wharton and the St. Mary’s Girl’s Youth Basketball Team. She was very involved in the Town of Wharton Community Affairs. She was mostly known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother as well as the neighborhood nurse.

Barbara is survived by her seven children; Brian of Lake Hopatcong, Gerard and his wife Kathy of PA, Andrew and his wife Lauren of Dover, Elizabeth of Wharton, Raymond also of Wharton, Gordon and his wife Heather of Roxbury and Barbara Bruss and her husband Colyn of Green Bay, WI; seven grandchildren Liam, Olivia, Maggie, Bennett, Riley, Michael, and Breanne; two brothers Russell Pitz and Raymond Pitz. She is predeceased by her husband Brian in 2017.

Visitation Friday, March 16, 2018, 5:00-9:00PM at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 State Route 10 West, Randolph (www.tuttlefh.com). Funeral Mass Saturday, March 17, 2018, 12:00PM, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Wharton. Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Wharton Soccer Club, PO Box 107, Wharton, NJ 07885.
